With Nightwaves at an end it is time to let summer go for this year and move to something deeper. Deeper in the night. Each week I will bring you a selection of tunes for the grown and sexy which all have one thing in common: they are deep. No particular genres will necessarily be respected yet each track should convey a richness which can only truly be appreciated deep in the night. Whether at a late night party with your friends or an after party or an after after party with a special someone…these tracks should make the static noise of life fade away and bring you to a clear place, a place where your soul can wander freely, a place where you can lose yourself, a place deep in the night.
This new feature will go a step further than just music as each week I will be paired up with an up and coming photographer. His or her work will be featured exclusively in the post and it will be paired with a song which I believe embodies its spirit. Visual art meets music and gets deep.
If you think your work fits the vibe and would be a great feature in this series, please contact me via email so I can check out your stuff: lecastell5@gmail.com
In addition, I will try and introduce an up and coming producer who’s music is deep and fresh on the scene. If you think you fit the bill or have any suggestions or feedback let me know. I would love to hear from you: lecastell5@gmail.com
This week’s photographer is Montrealer Ibrahim Attar. http://portfolio.ibrahimattar.com/
This week’s new producer is Patrick Barry. This Montreal/Toronto Producer & DJ’s deep house edit of PY’s Lungs originally produced by George Fitzgerald is a real gem. I loved it the first time I heard it but last weekend I played it during a DJ set at a private TIFF party and only then did I fully understand its power.
His style draws on classic deep house, techno and garage with influences from soul, r&b and hip-hop and his latest projects include alot of sound design work for advertising, ghost production, a forthcoming remix for a big Montreal label, and EP coming soon.
Until next week stay deep…and drop me a line if you want in or have any suggestions
