It’s a pretty rare thing that an artist remains relevant after more than 20 years of recording. Yet Kylie Minogue released her 10th studio album last year, and remixes have been popping up all over the place. It’s not surprising – Kylie may have only had (and I use this term lightly) limited success in North America, but world wide she is an icon. In the UK, Australia, and Europe she’s as iconic and important as Michael Jackson and Madonna.
Unsurprisingly, these artists have added their very special touches to her track. The MSTRKRFT remix is a pretty typical sounding JFK remix, and is probably my favorite. He doesn’t just throw down a vocal on a house beat – he completely remixes shit quite musically, and just straight has an amazing mind for it. The David Guetta remix is obviously heavily influenced by Ibiza house, and was probably played at Pacha all summer. The CSS remix is fun, has a clever beat, and is still better than the original in my mind, but is definitely the weakest of the remixes – it doesn’t bring much new to the structure of the track.
