Heard About You Last Night—which you can listen to here—is the opening track to Rave Tapes, the latest album from famed instrumental rock band, Mogwai. If there’s anything you should take away from this album, it’s this song. The building up of each element at the beginning of the track—starting with the staggered synth chimes, followed by the the sombre bass line and finally the culmination of the drums and guitars—speaks the most to me. Every time I listen to it, it hits me in the same way, and I can’t put my finger on what that feeling is because this track cycles through so many emotions, from dreary to uplifting and back down again. Just listen to it, please.
