With little more to go on than a Twitter account and a popular mix, “European born, Toronto-based” producers HolloH are cultivating a steady buzz surrounding their free debut EP on boutique label Sincerious, ‘Nomad’ offers a darker take on the new wave of UK house that’s propelled artists like Disclosure and Joy Orbison to world-wide acclaim. The title track is a deep, dark but strangely uplifting cut of old-school flavoured house with deep bass and ethereal vocals, while hazy the b-side “Broken Propeller” touches on UK Garage influences, borrowing equal parts from the sounds of artists like Deadboy and Rustie. A remix from Toronto producer VLSONN rounds out the release and takes ‘Nomad’ into a frenetic, percussion heavy realm of warehouse ready 2step. Check out the track below and grab the EP free for the next 30 days over at Sincerious. With a debut as strong as this, HolloH will be one to watch in 2013.
