IT’S FINALLY HERE. Madeon teased his new track Icarus months ago, and I, along with hordes of other fans, have been waiting eagerly for its release. Seeing as my pseudonym is also Icarus, I felt a certain desire to write this review.
To begin, let me inform you right away that Madeon is one of my favorite producers out there. His funky, bouncy, pop-y songs get stuck in my head for days and always carry this lighthearted and incredibly fun feel. This track is no different. Icarus starts with an ethereal synth pattern that leads into a full-bodied jubilant synth-chorus, which in turn leads into a signature Madeon drop. I love it. I’m sure some will argue that it isn’t as good as some of his remixes or other productions, but I think that the track is quintessential Madeon. Upbeat, Daft Punk-esque, catchy, fun, and altogether exciting. His EP is coming sometime soon; I honestly can’t wait.
