Many of you will have heard of the album that the French trio Alphabreak dropped a few weeks ago – it’s been widely written about all over on electronic music blogs, receiving wide support and critical acclaim. In short, it’s meant to be a reworking of Daft Punk’s volume of work in much the same style as Alive, though with far more elements exogenous to Daft Punk’s discography. It’s mostly downtemp’ish stuff – I gave it a listen just the other night, and went in to a mini trance chilling on my patio by the lake. I still have the odd acid-flashback style vision of the Daft Punk Alive 2007 tour pyramid in the middle of the Las Vegas desert whenever I hear a Daft Punk sample – it’s a searing image of unimaginable radiance that I will never forget.
I won’t build this one up too much, but I really enjoyed it!
