We’re all excited to see who comes out the other side of this competition. Eighteen producers have weighed in on Streetlab’s ‘Rat Racer’ and are vying for the top prize: inclusion in Streetlab’s summer remix project. The other gifts aren’t too bad either: a 30GB mp3 player for the top winner, $100 cold hard cash for the first runner up, and t-shirts + reppage on Streetlab’s official site for all three top placers.
We want to hear what you think. Â Give the tracks a listen, and then let us know which you support. Â In the following poll you can make up to 5 choices, one time only.

O-GOD FTW!!!
Good luck to everyone out there
ya man, i’ve got lotsa people comin’ back to me that they can’t see checkboxes to vote… i think sometimes it works if they just refresh though?
the lacopeaubec remix is by far the best. the 1 who travs remix sounds like a lame wanna be rap song
Thx 4 your votes…
Dave Scorp remix is my favourite.
Cheers

good luck everyone!
please vote!
@letsgetfuckedup I completely disagree tha1whotrevs’ track has a 90s quality to it I haven’t heard in a while and for that old school nod, I appreciate it
@letsgetfuckedup his names tha 1 who trevs
&&+ the remix is ill, dont be a hater, sit back, like what remix yu wanna like, vote for it then call it day, obviously someone likes it cause its in the lead.
LaClopeAuBec is really the best !
I wouldn’t look at vote count as a remotely reliable indicator of production quality as much as an ability to build an entourage. There are some quality submissions there that are really underrepresented, like E39′s and Dave Scorp’s. I’d pay attention to the Teen Remix as well. tha 1 who Trevs Remix is quite interesting, but I have a feeling it may have diverged too far from the original for it to be called a remix rather than an original track with Rat Racer samples.
I have to agree with @CurtisW. I think Pretorium is another one that is under represented at the moment – the production quality is extremely high, and what’s more, it’s a really interesting track. It’s among my top picks from the lot for sure.. reminds me of some old school Massive Attack shit.
Ultimately, Streetlab will probably decide based on some consideration of production quality, which varies pretty widely among the whole group. In some cases, the tracks are very well mastered. In one case, on the other hand (I forget which), there were serious/random key clashes, which were really distracting. I think they’ll also look at how good things sound overall – the artistry, song structure, and also some consideration of how well they used the tools they had. Imo, there’s only really one recognizeable sample in tha1whotrev’s, so I’d argue he didn’t use the tools as well, compared to someone like Pretorium for example.
Happy voting guys. Polls close on the 16th, so there’s just a ton of time left. So many people vote on these things that, over time, followings are of decreasing importance. Our experience is that the cream usually rises to the top, though I recognize that it can be a major disadvantage to have such a relatively low starting point as some of these tracks do. I say this with one obvious exception in mind, if you caught the Soundclash of the Titans poll, in which DJ Z-Trip clearly should have won
Happy voting folks, and good luck to all of the submitters. Some real quality in this lot, for real.
I agree with Curtis. I would like to see the tracks in these types of competitions posted ANONYMOUSLY – i.e. without the producers name attached to them. This would help cut down on people getting their friends to vote. This just becomes a promo event.
Also, if people had to listen to at least 50% – 100% of the song before voting was allowed, that would also help.

O-GOD remix is tough!
RESPECT TO ALL CREWS!
1.
@Henry Elder yes actually, i used its drum sounds and two of what i thought were it’s most distinctive melodies. you might not recognize them because my track is at a completely different tempo and i reversed them when they’re played entirely and chopped them up in different ways elsewhere. but iiiii’m not gonna take you through my entire production process… only things i added were a couple extra drum sounds, a breakbeat, one synth line, and of course K-0TiC’s vocals.
@letsgetfuckedup thanks for tha hate!
@CurtisW i wouldn’t even consider myself to roll that deep but promotion is obviously a part of this contest because of how it’s set up, and like Cal said, there’s a lot of voting time left and anything can happen. as for my divergence, i just wanted to do something a lil different than make a club song out of a club song, y’know? no hate to everyone else though!
@DJ Cal i’ll be first to say i coulda done a better job at mastering my track, it really is something i need to work on. and i think you oughta be able to pick out *two* samples
admittedly there were a lot of parts i didn’t use, but that was my decision to go for.
and real talk, i like LaClopeAuBec’s too; it’s probably my favorite – next to mine of course!
thanks to everyone who voted for me or anyone else!
Can we v a link of the Original version?
……………..
I’d listened all 100% except one !!! (1h30min)
I luv Dave Scorp, Lucien Reden, Deebs, Pretorium and LaClopeAuBec remixes.
Aquarian, E39, Curtis Wang, Teen and Duke Buzzy are very cool tracks…
Stephen’s track is excellent (but without the voice !!!)
………………
Nice job 4 the eighteen!
Happy voting ^^
teen remix for sure kid!
@GoodSoundz good call.. you can view the original here http://salacioussound.com/2010/03/remix-streetlabs-new-single-rat-racer-win-prizes/
I’ve just listened to the 18 remixes and must say that the competition is fierce! Good work by everyone.
My top picks, beside my Pretorium remix, are:
Curtis Wang, Duke Buzzy, E39 and O-God.
Thanks for the votes, and hat off for DJ Cal. Being compared to Massive Attack made my day!
Cheers

Is it a TWITTER CONTEST ?-)
I don’t think that the number of votes will be the final decision. It is up to Streetlab and Salacious Sound to choose a mix from the pile, I guess. On another note though is that having a lot of friends and fans can redeem in a good sale. So who knows? =)
Remixing this song taught me some nice tricks and I learnt how to use a couple of my tools differently. All in all it was really good fun, and that’s what music should be all about.
That said – all entries are well produced so it’s exciting all right.
Placing a friendly bet on the top three choices:
1. Dave Scorp
2. Pretorium
3. LaClopeAuBec
Personally, I really liked the Teen Remix as well (and of course my own), but I imagine LaClopeAuBec has more crowd appeal and will take a spot.
teen really is the best
hey guys, is there any idea when we can expect to hear an announcement?
announcing in the next few days.
Duke Buzzy as my main pic in these remixes
others to be noted:
Curtis Wang, E39 and O-God.
Laclopeaubec is the best one!!
