We might have a new mashup king on our hands. With transitions that would make Girl Talk proud, Basic Physics has shown he has mastered more than just the basics (see what I did there?) with his new EP.
With solid synths and rhythmic bass lines, he spins together catchy tunes into unique and impressive club bangers. He leads the EP with a track entitled Targa Party, a mashup of Calvin Harris, Russ Chimes, Hardwell, Lazy Rich, and Swedish House Mafia. He blends the whole ensemble together with a nice and glitchy electro-house synth, making for a cohesive and altogether enjoyable listening experience.
His second track, Strength in Numbers, is a mashup of Coldplay, Daft Punk, and Porter Robinson, a combination that made me shiver before I even pressed play. It’s my favorite of the three tracks on the EP, (probably because I have a soft spot for Daft Punk’s vocals), and demonstrates Basic Physics’ clean production and sampling skills.
I found the last track on the EP, entitled You Make Me Feel Resurrected, a little underwhelming. After the complexity and maturity of the first two tracks, I was left wanting a bit more. Despite this, I noticed his seamless sampling (or didn’t notice, technically) and am altogether impressed with his musicianship.
Check the tracks yourself and tell us what you think; I’m expecting to see great things in the future from this guy.
