When I hear that an artist is releasing a remix compilation/album/EP I tend to feel nervous. In this case I was especially nervous because the artist was the king of Moombah himself, Mr. Dillon Francis; the potential for  people to absolutely butcher his music was massive.

Well, you can breath a sigh of relief. This recent remix of “Without You” (Francis’ collaboration with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs) from Henry Fong infuses the track with new life. Where the original is spacious and grooving, Fong’s rendition is full and energetic, and I’ll be damned if he didn’t nail it. His buildups are tasteful, his drops are well-defined but not ridiculous, and the vocals are juxtaposed nicely with the melody of the chorus–neither line becomes stale.
