In advance of his set at Bloc Weekend 2012 in London on July 6-7, visionary techno producer Cosmin TRG has put forth a special remix competition in affiliation with Ableton, Loopmasters, and Novation. Anyone is invited to upload their remix of the unreleased Cosmin track “Writersbloc”; all you have to do is download the stems and sequences here. The winner will be selected by Cosmin himself and will receive two tickets to Bloc Festival 2012, professional grade mastering of their remix by Loopmasters, 5 Loopmasters sample packs, 1 unique custom ‘Bloc’ Novation Launchpad and 1 Ableton Suite 8 NFR download license!

Those of you who are thinking of entering, be forewarned, the competition is fierce. 31 remixes have already been uploaded to the group’s Soundcloud page and many of them are quite impressive. However, there is one that stands out above the rest and that is Ghostek‘s entry. This Russian garage producer has been one of Salacious’ fav artists this year and for very good reason. Ghostek is making some of the most advanced UK garage and bass music out there today so it’s no surprise that his remix of Cosmin TRG‘s”Writersbloc” is killer. Labelled as “ghost techno” on Ghostek‘s Soundcloud page, this remix consists of a driving 4/4 techno beat, eerie synth stabs and resounding garage percussion. It’s fascinating to hear how Ghostek glazes elements of UK bass and garage overtop of a standard techno foundation. This is a producer who is way ahead of the game; I’m betting that Ghostek will win Cosmin‘s remix competition. He certainly deserves to.
