Last week I had the wonderful opportunity to speak with one of my favorite music marvels! Under his gracious hospitality, the man behind the rapturous rhythm, Mix Chopin agreed to spend a little quality time in an interview and answer some of the questions I’m sure were brewing in people’s minds! (at least my mind)

FMM: Your music gives listeners a feel that is nothing short of inspiring, but what inspires you to create such melodies?

Chopin: It’s as simple as hearing the birds singing on a sunny morning, the sound of the ocean waves, or the sunset on a cloudy horizon…     and girls.

FMM: What do you think are your biggest obstacles as a music producer?

Chopin: To get Kylie Minogue to call me back… haha

Honestly, music production has endless possibilities to me, it’s limitless in a sense.  I started producing to make music just for the love of it.  I don’t see production having too many obstacles.

FMM: What is your opinion of success? How would you define it?

Chopin: Some people might say success is selling gold records and owning rare swanky sports cars, but to me success is just to keep making music that keeps people dancing.

FMM: What has been your biggest success moment so far?

Chopin: Looking into a crowd of 1000

FMM: Besides mixing tunes, what other hobbies/activities do you enjoy partaking in?

Chopin: Collecting records.

FMM: If you had the chance to go on tour with any other DJ in the world, who would you pick and why?

Chopin: This is a hard question because there’s so many people I would love to tour with.  A-trak? SebastiAn?

FMM: When you were a youngin’, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Chopin: A Rock Star

FMM: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Chopin: In my studio with a margarita

FMM: Have you always liked the frenchhouse/nu-disco genre?

Chopin: Yes, I love French House and most French music actually.

FMM: So you have a natural talent in instruments, but what made you want to take that talent electronically?

Chopin: When I was a kid, I always wanted to make crazy noises and sounds.  I was constantly trying to figure out how music was put together.  Nowadays, it’s easier to do a lot of it electronically because of all the advances in technology.

FMM: What are your ambitions for Mix Chopin?

Chopin: I want to tour all around the world and boogie down with people in every city.

FMM: What or who has been your greatest influence for your talents?

Chopin: Too many to pick from…but Quincy Jones is definitely up there.

FMM: In your opinion, what is the perfect day?

Chopin: Dinner in Paris with a lovely one.

FMM: Last question, If you time traveled back to 1975, where’s the first place you would go?

Chopin: The record store

Thank you MC! And if you still don’t know who Mix Chopin is, you can be melodiously educated here. Also look out for his new EP, Love Story, coming soon!!!
