Global production heavyweight and Toronto-native Joel Zimmerman, aka Deadmau5, has released a few new strangely named tracks on his soundcloud profile. They’re well in the vein of the darker melodic stuff he has put out on his channel over the last few months, a la still officially the biggest song to ever be posted on SalaciousSound: Get In The Cart, Pig, which accrued over 200,000 listens in its first 3 days.
HR 8938 Cephei is the longest work I’ve heard from Joel in a while, and is a real treat. Ever since he released his album For Lack of a Better Name in 2009, dedicated fans have been yearning for a follow-up to Strobe, and I think in this regard he has largely delivered. The new track clocks in at just under 11 minutes, and is a building and rolling journey through an incredibly harmonic soundscape. It’s namesake is the north star, apparently.

Bleed has a much more experimental feel, and has some darker elements, although transposed against the high bells which brighten it a lot and give it an almost ending scene of an epic movie feel.
