The Top Thirteen Best Dubstep Tracks of 2010

I’ve been going on the top ten for a while now, and for the most part it has been a pretty popular way of sharing what has been successful with readers, or just what’s hot on my list at the moment. Hopefully this effort to chronicle what I think are the top ten best dubstep songs of 2010 so far goes off as well.
#13 | Fuski and Dodge – Pornstep feat. The Highbury Whores (Original Mix)
Flux Pavilion has had a steady stream of high quality releases on Circus Recs over the last year and a bit, and his production is really looking up. He’s in regular contact with dudes like Doctor P, which can’t hurt
Fuski and Dodge - Pornstep feat. The Highbury Whores (Original Mix)What others are saying: “Grimier than a back-alley abortion.”
#12 | Freestylers – Cracks (Flux Pavilion Remix)
Flux Pavilion has had a steady stream of high quality releases on Circus Recs over the last year and a bit, and his production is really looking up. He’s in regular contact with dudes like Doctor P, which can’t hurt
Freestylers - Cracks (Flux Pavilion Remix)What others are saying: “Harder than f*ck!ng the grenade on a 26 of whiskey, after she’s railed blow off your dick.”
#11 | Rusko – Da Cali Anthem
Rusko is crossing over in a big way, and though people fault him for capitalizing, I would argue that he’s doing a service to the genre by making it more accessible and fun. This is a straight up great party jam.
Rusko - Da Cali AnthemWhat others are saying: “Louder than your wh*re mother with the milkman.”
#10 | Ginz & Baobinga – The Good Stank
Now here is a dude, Ginz that is, that is making some proper shit. I first came across his work on the Joker and Ginz remix of Basement Jaxx’s Raindrops last year, and I was impressed. Though it lacks some of the oomph that Joker brings in the production department, it has a lot going for it musically.
What others are saying: “Stankier than discovering your daughter in a wank film.. and FINISHING.”
#9 | Breakage Ft Donaeyo – Speechless
More subdued, with disparate influences and a chill vibe. Sounds like Seal meets, well.. Breakage.
Breakage Ft Donaeyo - SpeechlessWhat others are saying: “Badmon ting.”
#8 | Sub Focus – Could This Be Real (Joker Remix)
Nother Joker hit.. dope ass dubby vocals, tremendous production quality, and musically just a great track. To me, this is a real win, in so far as I can listen to this while I bang away at work, or get jacked up on at the club.
What others are saying: “Bigger than an Irishman on 6 beers.”
Sub Focus - Could This Be Real (Joker Remix)
Check out our best of 2012 article:
#7 | Muse – Knights of Cydonia (Nostalgia Dubstep Remix)
This track has a massive.. and I mean MASSIVE buildup. So massive that if you had your fucking wits about you, you would be properly afraid for your life.
Muse - Knights of Cydonia (Nostalgia Dubstep Remix)What others are saying: “Unexpectedly hard and deep, like f*ck!ng a midget with a huge willy.”
#6 | Major Lazer and La Roux – Bulletproof (Nacey Remix ft. Matt Hemerlein)
It’ll be a sad day when La Roux’s vocals finally get remixed one too many times. Fortunately, that day is not today. This is another fantastic re-envisioning of Bulletproof – perhaps my favourite to date – with a compelling dichotomy between the soothing piano, violin, and La Roux vocal, and the relatively simplistic hip-hop inspired beat.
Major Lazer and La Roux - Bulletproof (Nacey Remix ft. Matt Hemerlein)What others are saying: “Like a sexually confused frat boy alone in a room with Justin Bieber and a fistful of rohypnol.”
#5 | Sleigh Bells – Run The Heart (Bassnectar Remix)
Everything about this track is just fantastic, from the timing down to the incredible and falling bass notes, and the way that they interplay with the guitar noises and the awesome vocal. Bass + female vocal = win.
Sleigh Bells - Run The Heart (Bassnectar Remix)What others are saying: “Heavier than Godzilla’s bollocks.”
#4 | The Rolling Stones – Gimme Shelter (Zeds Dead Remix)
Some people might brush this one off as kitchy… those people are retarded, and probably don’t read this site. It not only takes balls to remix one of the greatest songs of all time, it’s also incredibly easy to fuck up. This song not only does the original justice, it also rocks everyone’s mind when they hear it for the first time.
What others are saying: “F*ck!ng money.”
The Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter (Zeds Dead Remix).mp3
#3 | Nero – Innocence (Original Mix)
When I heard Nero’s remix of The Streets’ Blinded By the Lights last year, I thought to myself ‘here is a real innovator’. Well, this track still makes me feel that way. It’s dudes like this who I expect will step up this genre which, I think in many ways is still in its infancy.
Nero - Innocence (Original Mix).mp3What others are saying: “Has daddy issues – starts out innocent and sweet, but ends up a real dirty wh*re..”
#2 | Doctor P – Sweet Shop
A small note, before I’m attacked mercilessly by crowd-sourcing hipster accuracy bots: this was released on a 2 side 10″ in February. This bad boy combines diverse inspiration with tight production, and hip hop sensibilities.
What others are saying: “Louder than Justin Bieber in an elevator with Roman Polanski.”
#1 | The Moody Blues – White Satin (Zeds Dead Remix)
Straight up, the best, most epic dubstep track to come out this year. I will be seriously shocked if anything can top this.
What others are saying: “More epic than The Oddyssey.”
The Moody Blues - White Satin (Zeds Dead Remix).mp3

Sick post.. that Nero track is one of the best of the year for sure.
i cant find anything wrong with this list
Great collection. Thanks.
Plan B – She said (16 bit remix) should be on this list!
only track that even belongs anywhere near this list is sweet shop…. everything else was bunk as hell
I agree with Nero being on this list, but WTF? No Scuba?
Having just realised that this list is for the GRIMIEST dubstep tracks, I would like to retract my previous post.
I can’t hear the difference between most of these tracks, all the beats are the same with different SAs overlaid
@Jake
While I would indict most dubstep producers for that very thing, I actually don’t think your comment is fair to tracks on this list like Innocence, Sweet Shop, Bulletproof, and Could This Be Real. I also think you’re ignoring the complexity in a few of the other tracks on the list that really set them apart from the rest of dubstep, like in White Satin, Run The Heart, and Gimme Shelter.
Thanks for sharing your input, but I think you’re totally off base here.
The buildup and drop in White Satin is amazing. Would have liked to see some Mt. Eden up there.
Mt. Eden – Sierra Leone, but this list is fucking legit
OMG! this is sick and heavy 2 the bone!
THX A LOT!
Mt. Eden is good, but for what they’re trying to accomplish, there are other producers who have exceeded what they’ve done.
The White Satin track is so fucking good I can’t wait to drop it live.

Awesome post! I just saw Nero play a free Scion AV show a few days ago and it was pure insanity. Girls bending over the speakers and pulling their skirts up, if that’s any indication
This is the best Dubstep site I’ve found all night, big kudos!
@ DJ Cal, your so right in your response to jake, just what I was thinking as I read through. It’s a great list, obviously not up to everybodies standard but it shows that Dubstep is becoming a little bit more diverse, I have my favorites, some not on the list but I wont complain. I was at the prodigy -warriors dance festival in the UK, respect to the Dj’s that dropped dub tracks to the 65000 crowd.
Not be one of those “WHY NOT MY FAVORITE SONG?” douchebags, as this list is fantastic, but I HAVE to throw this one out there:
Do You (PANTyRAiD remix) – Adam Freeland: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABfr3IdLeSE
Listen with some heavy bass.
AMAZING post you rocked me
Holy shit man!
I thought Nero-Innocence was the BEST track of the year for sure. But for some reason I didn’t notice White Satin(Zeds Dead Remix) this year. But what a track! It immediatly took me away!
these tracks are tighter then a virgin on prom night…sicker then leper with aids….and so very filthy, dirrtayyy…beatz
cant wait for it to become more mainstream in NYC
Too bad the list came out before Flux Pavilion’s Can’t Stop.
Mad props!! +_+
hold on-rusko sub focus remix should be number one
sick list. much thanks. although i agree with kitt, hold on-rusko sub focus remix is some monster shit and deserves recognition. makes me wanna smash shit.
Ridiculously stupid-dope post. Oh yesssssss!!!!
sick set! nice work!
f’in bangers, nearly every one there, a few that i hadn’t heard, loving the ‘what other are saying’ comments. LMAO
had to report back with this bit of tune rapeage that i’d like to have seen on the list:
Cragga – Mr.Postman [Dubstep Remix]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Q5spk228R0
Agree with Sean about Mr postman and what about basshead by bassnectar
Luvvin the old skool piano/vocal transition bits in Sweet Shop. Good list.
Have to agree with AviGandhi, Pantyraids remix of Adam Freelands track is just pure f*ck!ng amazingness….For those who havent heard pantyraids album, its f*ck!ng sheer brilliance of emotional ketamine journey. Try it
PENDULUM-SET ME ON FIRE
My fav dubstep track forever!!
D
The Muse remix gave me chest spasms. WOW.
This is very solid list! I got to admit some of our summer dance floor bombs came straight from this list – especially the moody blues – a diamond in the rough
For “Grimmest” one name always comes up in my mind that I feel doesn’t get the proper recognition:
- Numbernin6 -
Here are some examples – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnlDMXpIivc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep8K2DsqYEA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-XIUWy5abs
I personally would have included deadmau5 faxing berlin grifta dubstep remix. Such a good mix…
One of the dirtiest dubstep mixes around. Saxon – Chase n Status. Dirtier than Johnny fucking his kid sister Jennifer and finding dads wedding ring.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pt3vItRCSQk
This shit : Gifted (Masuka Remix) – N.A.S.A. (Feat. Kanye West, Santigold & Lykke Li)
Great dubstep drops. Here’s a few tight beats to add from Chase & Status.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36hQUVnmq-E
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RF7O20bCkls
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVuZWfWUb1c
I would LOVE to see some Mt. Eden up there
WOW, all legit. So GOOD
Omg listening to this list was better than sex. Cheers!
I’m willing to say that Sky Wikluh’s “Pazi sta radis” should have made this list. It’s gritty and dark as fuck, but has a great beat…
Look here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PghxvfngrRs
hai. em i has a dubstepppp and yaaaaa, is rly rly grimy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUTBqacxNdk
btw put it on high volume because the build up isnt very loud :S
Where is excision???? wtf! seriously.
Excision? this list was okay but I think one should definitely be Rhinestone Eyes hooky remix.
posted just aboot half way thru the year? you cant make a best 20101 list half way thru the year. If you had waited u would have heard Lines In Wax by Flux Pavilion. The full version not the short one. Should definitely be on this list, along with Pass Me By by: Trolley Snatcha. But there are still ballin tracks on here. About half of them are where they should be but some of those tracks arent top 10 material or in this case “top 13″ Just my opinion though.
The Boogalow Crew – “Days Go By” should be on this list. Straight Grime….
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGFmyVfz4QA
Hmmm… very good list. I agree with placing White Satin on top. I sometimes wish these lists would reach out to some of the less known artists that imho are often the most innovative. One of my favorites of the year for instance comes from practically unknown “Saef”. Friends (Saef Remix)- http://deepelmdigital.com/track/friends-saef-remix . I’d like to see more stuff like this. Am i wrong to desire this?
I dare say, whoever put this list of songs together, really knows their beats, the article tells you exactly what it says, the BEST.
Kudos to the die hard dubstep fan
Speaking about Flux Pavilion how about these tight drops.
Flux Pavilion – I Can’t Stop
http://video.stumbleupon.com/#p=fuei7no3t4
Flux Pavilion – Got 2 Know
http://video.stumbleupon.com/#p=2l81iuq6ud

A lot of jammssssssssssssssss in this post- thanks!
brilliant, white satin, OMG
Borgore Guided Relaxation Dub. Sickest track out there
wtf is with everyone givin this dude shit. what about this, what about that? shut up everyone, this set is filthy and theres only 13 spots. mad props, this set is orgasmic!!!
I appreciate all the feedback! It’s rewarding to have people engage.. definitely the reason I do this.
as far as amazing drops go…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZDhHwYVAo8
There are a couple of good tracks on this list but most are booty. Just telling it like it is!
this is amazing cause i agree 100 percent on white satan for #1.. i found it 2 weeks ago literally stuck in my head for what seems forever and the lyrics are no joke. such a coincedence i would find this and other ppl in the world think how i do
I’m just getting into dubstep and I got some GREAT beats from this list and from all the comments. Thanks from a newbie guys!!!
where can i download things like the rolling stones one? i neeeeeeeedddd these for those “fun” drives where the base consumes you as you as you drive:)
Cutline – Let Me Go
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSUfrx38b-U
Feed Me – Blood Red deserves to be very, very high on this list. It’s being released on Christmas day which puts it within 2010.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6GIdGhxyHw
solid track list. glad to see the nectar up thurrr but his wildstyle ep is fiiiirrrrre
Muse – Knights of Cydonia
This track is lame. Take away the Muse part and you have nothing.
The rest is probably good.
Dj Fresh – Gold Dust (flux pavilion remix)
Better than the rest so far! Hit it up!
Great list. I would have liked to see the Gold Dust remix by Flux Pavilion and Here Comes The Boom by Zeds Dead, but there’s already 2 Zeds Dead tracks on here anyway. White Satin is 100% best track of the year though.
Thanks for a great list.
red layd blak not on there :/
might sound like a dumb question to a lot of ppl on here but although i like this list a lot, is it just me or is the sound on these tracks really distorted or low in qual.? Maybe it’s my $50 speakers not being able to handle the bass though. Or does a lot of dubstep just naturally sound like it’s crackling/breaking up?
NONONO. the best track is probably firepower by datsik. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFI0OxLUIBc
or wonderland (peace treaty dubstep remix)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXvmUxIUxUc
or in for the kill skrillex remix.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpEOErRV-u4
or Ellie Goulding – Starry Eyed (Dubstep Remix) you have to listen to the whole thing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Jigf0ULQVc
The Eye’s remix of Lights should of been on this list:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrGWrT7hNnk
These tracks are bumpin
not one skrillex? his style is unique and revolutionary by far!
The best dubstep-track imo is Outtracks invite to The Gathering ’11 in Norway.
Location @ ftp.gathering.org.
this will make you orgasm
ok so awesome list but seriously how is skrillex not on this this list …. there dubstep is probably the best ive ever heard (: just sayin but still good list (:
please mr postman by cragga should be on this
Foda pra caralho! e pra porra!
i like the part where it goes WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP
This is a wicked list, cant wait to play em drivin around.
Imogen Heap Dubstep. Incredibleeeee
List kick ass, and everyone elses input: fucking legit. cant wait to bump alll this shit. thank you!
Sleigh Bells track is beautiful, love it
Love- borgore
Vaseline- duke&kulah. “I wanna f*** you in the a**” lmao
*kulah=kuvah (: lol sryyyyy
This list is really good. im not gonna throw my “MY FAV IS….” but there is a couple i could think of
I agree with Matthew. Skrillex is amazing. I like how he managed to mix sweet sounds with a grungy beat in “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites”. And the way he mixed “Weekends”. OMG. Did you guys hear about how he is supposed to be mixing his own version of “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga? I’m not much on her, but ANYTHING by Skrillex is amazing. Two thumbs up on this list, BTW. IMO, it’s got some of the best songs on it.
I also think that “I Love You” by Rusko should be on here. Great song.
thank u so fucken much letting me know bout white satin the song made me sweat
Spiritus Sancti 4:43 Adventure Club Dubstep this song is so epic!! check it out
Lol Im suprised skrillex isnt on this!!!! but yeah, and Fenech soler Lies Dr. P remix
Doctor P – Big Boss should be on here. Also, some sort of Skrillex
fantastic shit! DUBSTEP…….
no skrillex. very impressive.
Nice list. My favs are:
Ember Waves: Look at me know remix
I get all the girls
Sad Dubstep
Skrillex: Scary monsters and nice spirits
Korn vs skrillex Coming undone
Noisia: Machine gun (remix audio to transformers 3 trailer)
I think skrillex should dubstep on Marilyn Manson’s – The last day on earth
Nero for #1 !!!
thank GOD Skrillex isn’t on this list. I would’ve been very disappointed if he was. I do think that Chrispy, Datsik, or Excision should’ve been on here though. Besides that, still great selection.
borgore has to be one of the best!
Lost Woods Remix by Ephixa….. best ever.
WTF WHERE IS SKRILLEX?!?!
WHAT? 2010 must have been a lame year for dubstep as this all sounds like souless “san francisco house music”. the entire reason i like dubstep is that it’s the first “post kraftwerk” techno genre that slows down & gets funky. this stuff has that “same old same old” sound that makes 99.99% of rave music ANNOYING.
REAL dubstep is stuff you can actually dance to like: bass down low (dubstep remix), spongebob, well’ard & square feet. NONE of these tracks have that kind of funk. it’s a sad list when sweet shop is “the best” track in a list.
it’s lists like this that are the EXACT reason i avoid ALL same sounding rave/techno/house/jungle (???!!!)/breakbeat (???!!!) etc. music.
i hope at least there’s still SOME dubstep out there that’s slow and funky, if not, those 4 songs will be the ONLY dubstep i can tolerate. this list was pure torture and wasn’t dubstep as i know it… square feet is the stuff. this is just boring soulless rave music.
death to 130+ BPM!!!!
To above post….
That is because this is not dubstep at all…it is brostep, or robostep. I understand what you are saying, and everyone is entitled to like what they like. I personally love robostep, but have mad respect for the dub, 2-step garage, and dubstep producers that paved the way for this style of music.
Also, the only thing I HATED about this list was all the fucking idiots on here asking why Skrillex isn’t on this list…that would be because he doesn’t even rank up there with the other producers on this list, and most brostep and dubstep elitist cant stand him because he brings negative attention to this genre of EDM…and so do most of the “fans” Skrillex has. Do yourself a favor, and try to educate yourself on real dubstep, what it stands for, where it came from, instead of blindly following an ugly, washed up, emo kid that decided he wanted to PROFIT from electronic music because his fucking band SUCKED.
All i have to say is, where is Skrillex?
The Muse remix gave me chest spasms. WOW.
