If you haven’t heard a track with MURS on it then you don’t listen to the tracks on our Sunday hip hop posts, and you probably don’t listen to underground hip hop at all. MURS is an acronym used by an American rapper that’s appeared on more than 20 cds, eps, mixtapes, and singles that stands for Making Underground Raw Shit. I first heard his stuff on a 3mg (3 Melancholy Gypsies) track, which I’ve included in this post. MURS is also part of my favourite Living Legends collective, though sadly no longer tours with them.

Make sure to check MURS’s shit out.. especially if you’re fortunate enough to be in one of the cities on his upcoming west coast tour.
