Amsterdam’s Kita Menari is at it again with his new single “Into the Dark,” the first single released since his recent Finally Awake EP (which we’ve had on repeat for months now). The new single is the first introduction to yet another new EP, Dreaming All the Time, out in November. It’s a wonderful, infectious indie-pop cut reminiscent of Foster the People, Great Good Fine OK, and Lany.
“Into the Dark” is a song about coping with the meaningless, daily standard routines,” Kita explains. “I often experience those as the complete absurdity of life,” Menari explains. “But I’ve found that no matter how hard I try to be different, still I’m chained to life’s patterns and cycles. That’s ultimately what the song’s about, trying to change a cycle and realizing how caught up you are in it.”
