We Introduced Djemba Djemba to Salacious Sound a few weeks ago and since then he’s put out a poppy refresh of Lil Texas’ I Need You as well as a release on The Jeffree’s, I Just Go. The reason I keep coming back to Djemba Djemba and hold him in such high regard is his willingness to say “to hell with trends, I’m going to make what I want” and explore numerous musical styles while maintaining his own distinctive imprint. From footwork to tribalĀ to trap to UK bass, a listen through his SoundCloud takes you through the whole gamut of genres.
His latest production, a remix of Klink by Deathgrips, is an extension of his recent contribution to Team Supreme v28 in which a group of LA-area producers were asked to take some Deathgrips stems and flip them into… whatever they want. It’s definitely not for everybody, but it’s an incredibly innovative mix of styles and infinitely worthy of sharing. Enjoy.
