Last Saturday at College St Bar Matt Medley started dropping Dancehall tracks. This Thursday at Augusta House DJ Fathom did the same. The reaction at both events was stellar. I have been craving Dancehall when I’m out andam really starting to get excited for a merger between the intense vocal style of Jamaican Dancehall and the uptempo energetic feel of Electro. Recently remixes of N.A.S.A and Santogold have surfaced featuring samples by Movado and Sizzla respectively. While I remain disgusted at the music’s hateful attitude, I can’t deny the power of Dancehall’s energy and attitude. I’ve included the aforementioned remixes as well as the Remix that Saigo (DJ Cal?’s partner in crime when they spin Panic Mechanics) allowed me to post on my first blog (Bustin’ Loose), which has also been available in the Panic Mechanics section of the site for some time now.
