This remix was supposedly going to be the Detox of the electronic music world. Originally announced way back in 2014 it got held up due to some complications with the record label but now the remix, as well as the entire Back Home Remix EP, has finally dropped. I guess in that sense it’s probably a lot better than Detox since the wait was only about 8 months and not 15 years or so but regardless I’m just glad I got to hear this Kayliox banger in my lifetime (the same probably cannot be said of Detox). As one of the biggest names in future house right now Kayliox have only added to their already impressive resume with a remix of a tropical/melodic record. Before I listened to it I fully expected Kayliox to strip all the tropical elements in the instrumentals, leave the vocals and just add their deft future house touch to the track so I was pleasantly surprised to hear them work around the tropical elements. While there’s the gritty, deep, dark, bass line and beats we’ve come to expect from a Kayliox banger they’ve actually worked around the tropical elements keeping the saxophone in (underrated touch) as well as the light tropical percussion kicks atop the bass line. This was definitely worth the months of wait friends.
