I am hopeful. I am praying. I am hopeful and praying that 2009 will allow us to transition away from ring tone rap and back to real hip hop. We’ve already mentioned the return of K-Os and how it will help to fix the a game that has gone haywire. The things is ‘Tips Renaissance was a breath of fresh air. When Common’s album was met with mixed reviews ( Cal doesn’t like it, I do), Tip’s was a universal hit. Look for K’naan’s unique style to break out over the course of the next year, it wouldn’t surprise me that DJs take interest and remix the dusty footed philosopher. Little Brother is looking to break on the scene with sweet beats and a smooth flow, look for big things from this up and comer as well.
