Madeon will be making his long-awaited return to Toronto shortly after Christmas. He was in Canada for Osheaga earlier this summer but hasn’t actually played a show in Toronto since that marvellous night in October of last year. He’s gone from strength to strength since his first Toronto show (he was 17 at the time) and spent the summer making rounds through the American festival circuit.
He rose to prominence through a YouTube video he posted of him mashing up his favourite songs on a Launchpad. The resulting track, Pop Culture, went on to become one of his most notable tunes. The prodigal Frenchman has received praise from a multitude of notable figures, including Rob Swire, Skrillex, and deadmau5.
He might not be old enough to legally buy a beer but you wouldn’t know that based on how refreshingly honest he speaks about topics within the industry. When asked by DJ Mag whether he should play for the crowd or himself, he replied with: “It’s a matter of context, but if you are performing as an artist and people are coming to see you, they are giving you their trust and attention and it would be a shame to miss the opportunity to showcase a personal side.”
Trust me, the “personal side” of his live performances is something you want to see. Salacious Sound will be in the house covering the event. We hope to see you there. RSVP and ticket information
