Solarstone’s Anthology One

The name Solarstone is one of the best known in European house culture. The group has been producing music since 1997, and gained incredible success in 1999 when it released its single ‘Seven Cities’ which many credit for popularizing the style of Balearic House and Ibiza Trance that he makes.
The aptly named ‘Anthology One’ is a two disc compilation featuring Solarstone’s best work, and catalogues some serious classic tracks. It was released near the same time the last member of the original trio left the group. So many of the tracks on this album have influenced electronic artists over the last decade – I really encourage you guys to listen to the tracks here and go get the album. Jump the Next Train one of my favorites off the compilation, which I think is based on a Young Parisians track (though the latter may be a cover of the former – I’m not sure), and Seven Cities is the classic. I’ve also included a track I think should have been on the Anthology – I don’t find the album particularly representative of their vast catalogue of Ibiza Chill-Out music they’re responsible for. The remix of Centre of the Sun is one of my favorite down tempo tracks, and reminds me of my time I spent at Cafe Mambo and Cafe Del Mar.

Solarstone is brilliant. Seven Cities is their best known classic, and I also recommend their tracks Solarcoaster and Spectrum. I first heard of them when I listened to their chillout remix of Paul Oakenfold’s Southern Sun, then Tiesto’s inclusion of their tracks in his earlier (around 2001-2003) confirmed their status.
So fucking chill, straight Lazers!!!
