I first met Ben and Kevin when they were playing with Kid Cudi @ West last December. They pumped up the crowd and got everyone singing along while Kid Cudi dropped his lines over The Crookers remix of his own song. Since then I have come to realize that these cats have a lot of potential.
They’ve been playing all the right gigs as residents of Dirty Disko’s Thursday night parties @ Up on Carling in London, Ontario. They have had the chance to share the stage with some of Electronic music’s biggest names, inluding A-Trak, MSTRKRFT, Bloody Beetroots, and crookers. When they opened for Bloody Beetroots they managed to outshine them, at least in my opinion. This year they will be taking part in one of Toronto’s biggest shows, Time Festival @ Sound Academy.
Over the past little while I have accumulated a collection of tracks fit for posting. It is my opinion that, especially with any new artist, the best thing to do is to put out a collection of tracks so that people can really hear more than just that one dope remix or edit. I dropped their Wobble N Shake remix of Hold the Line prematurely in my preview of NXNE, and the track definitely was able to shine through, getting picked up and re-posted by other blogs.
As they continue to formulate their own sound, they tend to be influenced by Progressive House and Dubstep, while managing to have considerable maintream appeal. Their most recent creation, Casablanca, was remixed by none other than Toronto’s favorite remixer, Barletta.
A.s they continue to grow, look for these two to really have a large impact on Toronto’s scene. A positive one at that.
P.S Benny killed it @ Wrongbar Tuesday for a Michael Jackson tribute, but not on he decks, on the dancefloor.
