Onnex is one of the many electro DJ/Producer combos from a beach town suburbs of Los Angeles. He got started spinning in college a year ago and has been working on polishing his skills ever since. His love for electro coupled with his burning contempt for top 40 garbage has been fueling the fire, and has recently lead him to the realm of production. An EP was supposed to drop this month, but due to illness, and booking a ticket to Hawaii on a whim one very, very late night (for the next day), it will come out for sure in February. (The waves on the trip were worth it) Also, like most recent college grads, he is unemployed and happily working on the EP, remixes, collaborations, edits, and 12 oz curls. Look for big tunes from him soon!

Producer, DJ, musician and promoter, CLANCY has been involved in the electronic music scene for most of the noughties. A product of the 90s Madchester indie scene he descended to London in order to further his love of electronic music.
Regularly spinning records at numerous London East End raves and thriving basement parties in Shoreditch and Dalston, CLANCY has also been making kids dance at numerous UK festivals including Field Day, RockNess, Bestival, Land of Kings and Great Escape to name a few.
Having remixed the likes of Little Boots, Annie, Delphic and Housse De Racket, CLANCY is hitting the mark with his own EP due out at the start of the summer.
With musical heroes such as Stuart Price, Lifelike, Alan Braxe, Cut Copy, Anoraak and Moulinex CLANCY has developed a synth laden melody focused style of production which has allowed him to construct a strong fan base of party going music lovers.

Not only am i unable to reach the RIVIERA launch party, with ISIS of Thunderheist, being cuckolded in Ottawa, but, to boot, Violca Yryku had to rub it in by sending me her latest remix saying she’s going to drop it tonight! Here it is folks, enjoy!

This is a video of french beat maker and artist 20syl doing his thing in what looks like a very well equipped home lab. If you look around, you see sound proofing on the walls using egg cartons, at least a half dozen different synths, turntables, tons of other musical instruments, and his MPC. He’s not exactly cutting and splicing magnetic tape together, but this is definitely a much more analog form of production than the type practiced by the vast majority of artists today. I have huge respect for the quality of sound created by the top electronic producers of the day, but this just seems like a more authentic form of production to me. Really good producers like Wolfgang Gartner and Deamau5 can create warmth in their sound, but what’s really cool about this is that warmth is inherent in the instruments that are used in the video. I’ve always heard that error, or the possibility of error, is a sort of quality or property of sound that separates good music from great music, or at least recorded from live. It gives it a human element. This partly explains why I was so crazy for the Blakroc album – it has a raw quality that differentiates it from high quality productions, and especially stuff like pop that we would describe as over-produced.
The alternative is that its not more “authentic”. It could just be that “rawness” is just another property, from the vast array that music can have, that changes the experience for the listener. A parameter, but specifically one that doesn’t affect the normative “goodness” of music. I don’t buy that – do you?
