Chronic Irresponsibility is an album that consists of an odd mix of Blaxsploitation-Soundtrack-esque funk rhythms, airy guitar and piano centric progressions, and big bass scratch/sample beats a la DJ Premier. Â The elements are all hip-hop here: great turntablism, smooth flow, and interesting lyricism about personal circumstance in New York and our roles in hip-hop. Â My favourite track overall is Beware, for the strong lyrical content and one of the best beats on the album. Â By favourite beat is definitely off Worldwide – like all of the beats on this album it is too linear and the production has left it a bit flat, but its heavily Premier inspired style makes it a real head nodder.
