Formed last August and consisting of two young Bay Area producers, SKULS have found their way into the scene by staying true to their love of garage-house. My favourite quality about SKULS is how tight their drum production is – every snare, kick, tom, and hi-hat is as crispy as Ms. Vickies. Over the last couple years, SKULS has remixed the likes of Tommy Kruise, Flume, Nadus, and even the likes of Childish Gambino and Kendrick Lamar. SKULS is jumping back on the radar with their newest remix of British singing sensation Lapsley, entitled Falling Short. The intro of this song instantly made me feel like I was floating on a cloud, like all my troubles were about to drift away. Their playful use of Låpsley vocals in the crescendo was reminiscent of drum and bass. As the intro peaked my ears were hit instantly by their cathartic, trap-like drum patterns and finely layered synth sounds which instantly sent my head bobbing. This song will definitely be on repeat on my playlist – definitely give SKULS a listen and stay tuned for what they will bring to the music industry.
