Wow, what a great night for music!  Coachella is currently in hyperdrive mode with the reunion performance of hardcore heroes At the Drive-In and a seizure-inducing set from German electro legends Modeselektor (both streaming  right now on youtube)! Now if that wasn’t enough, Diplo and Switch just went and dropped “Get Free”; the first single from their sophomore album as Major Lazer!! Featuring the enchanting vocals of  Dirty Projectors  member Amber Coffman (whom I legitimately have a crush on), lilting synths, and a skankin’ reggae beat, “Get Free” is arguably the most laidback Major Lazer tune to date. It gives off affable, summery vibes that are curiously evocative of (dare I say it?) Vampire Weekend. That may seem like a stretch but after taking into account Coffman’s Brookyln afro-pop roots and VW‘s electronic tendencies (a la Discovery) I think you will understand where I’m coming from. All things considered, it’s a splendid tune and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t download it immediately.
