Rusko

It’s no secret that dubstep has been surfacing all over Toronto this year in clubs and popular cultural spots like The Social and Suba.  Monarch and I chatted months ago about the inevitability of dubstep’s big break, and I’m happy it’s happening right now.  The first one is no newbie making his big debut though.  Rusko has over a dozen releases in his discography, and loads of remixes that have been the subject of blogger attention this, especially this year.  He has some collaborations in the works, and is someone to watch this year.

Caspa

Same goes for Caspa.  This guy is booked up for solid months, with few days off from the tour.  He’ll be on the grind all over the UK, mainland Europe, and Japan through the summer.  He just released a brand new album called Everybody’s Talking Nobody’s Listening, and will be doing more good work with artists like Rusko this year.

A1 Bassline

As a percentage of the total number of remixes I’ve listened to this year, the highest proportion probably belongs to A1 Bassline – both created by him and remixed by other people.  He’s not quite the prolific tourer that the first two artists are this summer, but he’s busy and hopefully working hard on his production.

Jack Beats

Jack Beats has some huge brand power, and is getting attention from almost every popular artist – and not just the ones on Mad Decent and Dim Mak.  Jack Beats remixes and bootlegs have been pouring out on to the blogs this year, and has a North American tour in late July and early August that I’m really excited for.

Herve

This artist finished a world tour last year as The Count of Count and Sinden, and has been hard at work lately on solo releases, huge remixes, and a full length release under Count and Sinden.  He is a prolific producer that is going to have many more hot releases this year.
