Gigamesh is a man who, for those who rock parties, needs little introduction. He is behind some of the best remixes in my arsenal, both as a solo remixer and in the unstoppable duo Discotech. Now he’s also working on original productions in a new duo named Senor Stereo, and things are sounding very exciting, with remixed bys coming from U-Tern, Treasure Fingers, and more. The Ten Best Remixes and Mashups of Kanye West Songs

Alright, so I haven’t had this much fun writing a Tuesday Top Ten in a while. Suffice it to say, I’ve found a format that you guys find interesting and entertaining, and one that is fun for me to do. I’m going to continue with the best 10 up and coming types, but I think I’ll do them bi-weekly, or maybe even monthly.. I will experiment a bit, and hopefully get some feedback from you all.

A lot of these tracks are old favourites that were on high rotation when I was getting my first really big gigs out, so digging them out for this list was exciting. When I listen to most music I have what you might call flashbacks – I feel as though I am experiencing the same feelings, or perhaps outlook, that I felt at the time in my life when I heard the song for the first time / when it was on high rotation. These tracks remind me of the adrenaline rush I got from turning the bass knobs for the first time, the mashups and mixes I made in my bedroom with DJ Saigo, and the parties that The Monarch and I threw on College St. with our friends where we would steal all the smokers from the DLYF party next door when they went outside for a cig.

Tuesday’s Top Ten Tracks: La Roux Breaks in to Our Charts Big

If one thing is certain, it’s that disco is going to be big this summer. Â Glad people liked the Chicane Anthology – I’ll get to posting another DJ River mix this week as promised, and this time I’ll post one with a bit more diversity. Â With regards to the comments about choosing one artist for a mix – I think it’s more difficult than people are given credit for – especially across releases, an artists’ sound can vary a lot. Â Beside that point, the tracks on the mix are just plain awesome. Â I have done a lot of disambiguation research on Chicane and other related artists since listening to that mix years ago. Â The only track I have not been able to locate is one labelled “Nagasaki Badger” – if you know what I’m talking and can help me out get at me, and I’ll hook you up a free t-shirt or something.

Highlights on the top 10 this week for me are the La Roux tracks, and John Roman’s Yeah Yeah Yeahs remix!
