Monty Cold – King Cold
Article by
yup
Just as we all thought rap was heading down into the dark, Monty Cold has been busy illuminating the way through the underground hip hop scene with his new EP titled, King Cold.
This 21 year young Maryland raised creator, always had a fascination with music. After about 5 years, Monty elevated his interest to perfecting the art of rap. Finding major influence in artists like Andre 3000, Stevie Wonder and D’Angelo, Monty approaches his craft with careful consideration and poise. I asked Monty to describe what makes his music special, he wisely states, “The relationship between my production team and I is strong. I am careful to take everything into consideration when I create music; always coming up with a new way to deliver a verse to entertain whoever listening.”
Being both extremely self-critical and eager to please his audience, Monty finds himself in an extremely competitive game. Monty’s newest EP, King Cold, is proof that this player is always going for the gold. From the intro to the very last track, this kid from the 90’s is keepin’ it real! The realest part about him is the sheer amount of focus, deliberation and success that each track contains; “I think of how everything flows together and how I can deliver each verse. I always want my fans to find something different to love with every song.” Now that’s an artist that really cares about the quality and effect of his work.
Monty matches his on point lyrical content with irresistible 90’s reminiscent beats with an all-around great vibe, creating a truly remarkable hip hop album that caters to his listener’s souls. Please don’t just take my word for it, Hear for yourself! King Cold is available for download courtesy of KatHaus Records! Head on over and Like Monty’s Facebook page for your free copy today!

Does the fact that Astronomar made a hip-hop breaks track about lemonade surprise me? No, no, not really. It’s awash with early-Beastie Boys vibes and is just purrrrfect for summer weather.

Destroid – The Invasion [Album Review]
Article by
Filippo
May 7, 2013
Genre: Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Electro House
Category: Album Review, Audio

We first got a taste of Destroid last year with the track Raise Your Fist. It was a stellar piece of Drumstep, but to be honest it didn’t sound so different from Excision’s solo stuff. Why would he make a new project? The months following the initial three singles we got some new info about what Destroid really was, a live electronic band. KJ Sawka, Downlink, and Excision himself are poised to change live electronic music. With that introduction out of the way lets get down to the music! The Invasion is a HEAVY album that never slows down.
What these ten tracks lack in variety, it makes up for it with intensity. Every song shows Excisions love for Metal and Hip-Hop. On the track, Flip The Switch, Messinian spits a couple verses that feature his signature flow. Flip The Switch is one of the standout tracks with it’s combination of speed and intricacy. Downlink has a solo track here, Activation, it’s a bouncy Electro House jam that keeps the style of this album intact. Bassnectar and Far Too Loud make excellent appearances as well, Bassnectar’s being the standout collaboration on the album.
This may not be “Avant Garde” but this album does what it sets out to do; be as heavy as possible and be fun. It’s that simple, this album is pure fun. If you’re looking for heart convulsing bass and fast drums, then this is for you!

Hemingway is set to release his highly anticipated Single ‘Ace Neptune’ on May 13 which features killer remixes by Cyclist and Jokers Of The Scene. For those of you who don’t know Hemingway, he is arguably one of the most talented disco producers out there but for some reason has flown relatively under the radar. I have a feeling that will change in a couple of weeks. But for now to whet the appetites, here’s Hemingway remixing Toronto producer Cyclist. Enjoy.

Alicia Keys – Fallin’ (Yarin Lidor Remix)
Article by
Ziad Ramley
Another brilliant remix by Tel Aviv producer, Yarin Lidor. It’s hard to pin-point his style, all I can really say is that it’s deep, soulful, and has a unique approach to urban flair that could only come from someone well outside the confines of North American culture. Also, I can’t get enough of this kick…

The Latest in Hip-Hop From: P Money

P Money is one of the best Grime MC’s on the scene right now. He’s been around for a while and is considered a veteran amongst many. 2013 has already been a busy year for him! He’s appeared on Skream & Friction’s latest hit, started his own brand, and is hard at work on his latest album. In the meantime he’s dropped this ten track mixtape that is sure to get a party started. All songs feature P Money spitting over popular beats such as Harlem Shake. It may seem gimmicky but it works, this tape is a blast!

I posted that Vicetone x Nico Vega collab not long ago, but I neglected to include the original that inspired it. Is Beast a bit more ‘band-y’ than the tracks that I normally post on here? Sure, but I just can’t not give credit to incredible vocalists like this.

The most recently released club anthem from the Anjunabeats label, Walter White, is definitely set to be a heavily played tune this summer. Named after the main character in Above & Beyond‘s favorite TV show, Breaking Bad, it carries with it the signature emotional A&B melodies, sandwiched between powerful synthesizer and heavy bass breakdowns. Definitely one of my favorite tracks off their Anjunabeats Volume 10 compilation.
