React Presents closed out 2016 with another memorable event! The locals congregated to the Donald E. Stevens Convention Center to play and dance at Reaction NYE despite winter being in full swing, and they kicked off 2017 with great music.
The setup at Reaction NYE was impressive with three stages inside the indoor venue. The Warehouse — the event’s main stage — hosted some of Chicago’s favorite electronic and hip-hop artists. Grammy-nominated artists, such as Flume and Anderson Paak, alongside other popular presences, like Dillon Francis and Gucci Mane, threw down colorful and energetic sets as the crowd prepared for 2017.
Zeds Dead delivered a spectacular bass-ridden set ringing in the New Year with a bang. Local artists performed at the Arcade stage, which was a very unique and fun stage to be at. There was a crowd dancing to the music while folks were huddling around and button mashing on their favorite classic arcade game
There were a couple downsides at the event. First, attendees were not allowed to bring in empty water bottles as there were no refill stations, and as expected at any event venue, water prices were marked up. Another improvement could have been to the sound system. There were moments throughout the weekend where the sound system caused noticeable rattling which took away from the performances. However, these were only minor drawbacks and did not take away from the fun.
Between the music, the arcade games, and the newly introduced art gallery, there was plenty of attractions to keep folks entertained. React Presents continues to impress with well organized events with unmatched lineups. We look forward to what React Presents has planned for 2017. Happy New Year to all!
