It’s often said that you can’t beat the classics. However, this cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Beast of Burden” by the rising, Brooklyn based indie electronic group, argonaut&wasp, comes pretty darn close.

Following the fabulous success of their debut EP last year, titled Future Protocol, argonaut&wasp have been on a roll dropping tunes that expand both their signature sound and the indie dance genre itself. Somehow each of their releases proves more infectious the last, and their latest work is no different. Bringing their indie funk influence to The Stones’ trademark tune, the group speeds things up to transforms the track into a modern dance hit while simultaneously preserving the original’s rock feel. Keeping the classic chorus, A&W switches it up in their dance inducing synth breaks.

“[We] put our heads together to rework, reinterpret, and create covers of iconic Stones’ songs… …Our cover speaks to the themes of the original record, but we did our best to give it a “dance” upgrade” – A&W.

If you’re digging the band’s addictive pop infused dance-rock sound, check out “Higher Ground,” and “Stranger Lover” too, which are a few of my other favorites by them.
