I’ll confess I didn’t know much about Harrison before this past weekend, I’d heard the name as an active watcher of the Torontonian scene but I wasn’t the most familiar with his work per se. Luckily I had the pleasure of watching him up close at Bestival Toronto as well as sitting in on a colleague’s interview and its safe to say I’ve now listened to his EP Colors about fifteen times in a row now. Thank fully for UK beat-maker Star Slinger I’ll have new content to add into my rotation as I wait for Harrison’s new project. Taking on a remix of Harrison’s ‘You’re Light’ Star Slinger squeezes every ounce of emotion out of the original and reworks a lot of classic Star Slinger remix elements into the record. Beautiful synth kicks, glitchy effects, and dancing piano chords all come to life with Maddee’s vocals as Star Slinger gives us a remix that Harrison’s original is most definitely worthy of.
