Smooth. Silky. Sleek. Those were the first three words that instantly popped into my head the first time I checked out Eekkoo’s edit of Loud Places by Jamie XX (of the xx). I’m about 10 consecutive listens deep so far and my opinion hasn’t changed one bit, there’s just something about Eekkoo’s minimalist production that not only pairs beautifully with Romy’s dreamy vocals, but also manages to highlight them even more over a backdrop of bevy of different percussion edits and a wonderfully crafted bass line. Another thing that really caught my eye, err ear, is that hypnotic synth that just seems to bobble right atop the bass line sucking you into an eternal loop of mellowed out Eekkoo remix goodness.
