The 68th edition of the Saturday Mixcast features a funky-fresh down + mid tempo deep and tech house mix by one of Australia’s finest: Cassian.

The mix is in support of a free show in Sydney this evening, Saturday the 7th. The Sydney Dance Party at the Abercrombie is presented by Chux & Slow Blow, and will feature two secret sets by internationals + Cassian and Chux.

The lowdown on Cassian

Cassian is a producer/DJ from Sydney, Australia with a penchant for funky nu-disco rhythms and dancey upbeat tempos. He’s best known for his remix treatments just by merit of the quality of tracks he has managed to flip, but don’t mistake me, his original productions on his I Like What You’re Doing EP, released in early 2011, are outstanding. But don’t take my word for it…

I have some favourites of Cassian’s which I think are the best examples of just what nu-disco can be, and certainly inspired my affection for the genre in 2010. In short, they are his remixes of fellow Aussie group Miami Horror’s tracks Make You Mine and Holidays, Swick’s Grow Up, and Two Door Cinema Club’s What You Know.

He put out several impressive tracks in 2011 which are worth checking out too. A couple of my favourites are:
