As we approach the end of yet another eventful year, modern society can’t help but highlight the best & worst of the year. So, i shall do my tiny part and highlight this years top 21 anthems: of life. As one year comes to a completion another is ushered in, and so we sit here eagerly awaiting, asking ourselves, what can we expect from the EDM industry in the forthcoming year? Well, if the milestones achieved from our exponential growth of 2011 were any indications, then the happenings of 2012 will be monumental. Let this small compilation of the best of 2011 anthems be a herald to a beautiful flourishing new year.

Before we commence though, a few words need to be said regarding a related topic. Throughout the entire year, the topic of the year to come (2012) was a trending one. A year in the future that we seemed so concerned about, when in fact we had yet to complete the present. Why the buzz? Doomsday people barked. Well, i have to address this topic and extinguish this fanciful global malaise and angst once and for all.

Is 2012 the end of the world? No. Fortunately, Gaia (mother earth) has been here for approximately 4.55 billion years – give or take a few years – and it will remain here for many many…many more, regardless of how we treat/mistreat it. Will 2012 bring upon us much more needed change and convergence? Yes. 2011 was a starting point brought by waves of change, but the finish-line to a beautiful start that has been laid in front of us by the “future us” is a beautiful Garden of Eden that we have all be seeking. Although, in our hearts & souls, it was there all along.

At the subconscious level, you’ve heard, seen and felt it; the tacit messages conveyed in the titling of tracks, the explosion of triads and triangles (sacred numerology & geometry) in cover-art, and the use of the “all seeing eye” (our spiritual third eye, aka our 7th chakra) in artist logos. If any of the latter isn’t evidence of a global awakening or a shift in our way of thinking, then im not sure as to what is. The global unrest throughout the entire year was not war, but simply wonderful mini revolutions. The movement around the world that was dubbed “Occupy this, Occupy that…” were not riots, but simply pockets of resistance in the name of a greater good. The anguish of the worldwide financial economy is not a collapse of a system, but simply a demise of materialistic consumerism tyranny. Folks, the world will not end. The destructive world as we see it today will end.

Break free of the materialistic shackles bound onto you by corporations, liberate your mind from the brainwash poured onto you by governments, chip away and disintegrate the over-inflated ego we all possess, and march proudly into our new year. How do we get there you might ask? A positive mindset and a glimmer of hope for a better tomorrow will get you there. On that note, i leave you with something positive myself. I truly believe music is the vehicle that will save the world, so let this Top 21 below be lauded as doing its small part in this emerging medium of a spiritual – electronic – awakening.

In addition, I would like to personally thank every artist/remixer attributed in these tracks below. The reason i live and breathe today and push forward for a better tomorrow – with a smile – is because of each one of you and your works. With the following selection of tracks, I’ve had the grandiose and grateful opportunity of sharing an everlasting memory of smiles and tears with countless beautiful strangers and a handful of friends i hold dearest to me. You all have changed the world (my world) in some small way, and so i thank you. I was recently asked by friends what my new years resolution will be, and so I answered: “to change the world”. Without further or due – in no particular order – i present to you my Top 21 Anthems: Of Life 2011.
