Hey guys, it’s a real pleasure to have you on Salacious Sound, I’ve personally been an oober fan for a few years now, so this is personally a real hoot as well! I’d just like to start by congratulating you on breaching the 100k milestone! I remember just a few months ago the page was sitting pretty at 50k, how does it feel to rack up that many fans in such a short time-span and to currently be at that level? As you mentioned, “100k is not for everyone”.
Felguk
Feels great! Feels like we are being able to communicate with our music to a large group of people. And its not only about the number of fans you have, but of how much they are involved with you. Every time we play we can feel that love coming back from the crowd and it just feels wonderful!
ReySon
Out of 100k, a few of your fans have always craved that Felguk would one day venture into the dubstep arena and produce some harder hitting tracks. Well for those who asked, your recent collaboration with Example will definitely satisfy their palettes (including mine). Firstly, how does it feel to enter this so called dubstep arena? Will dubstep be playing a larger role in your productions to come? Lastly, how was working with Elliot (Example)?
Felguk
Producing dubstep was a really fun thing to do. Just to be able to free ourselves from the four-to-the-floor beat immediately gets us into a whole different creative dimension. From the fans, we get two different reactions: the majority of them joins us in our adventures through different sounds and genres, but there is a minority, especially the really old fans, who dislike that we move away from our classic signature sound. So the real challenge is to make a new sound but managing to put your own personality to it, and we feel that we managed to do that in ‘Plastic Smile’. It is not so ‘hard’ as you mentioned, I think its really funky groovy, and uplifting.

Working with Elliot was great because he is such a creative guy. He quickly sat down, wrote the lyrics, and recorded. He is completely in tune with his own music.

As artists, having reached the status you two are currently at in your professional career, other beginning artists would say that all their goals and dreams have come true. Is this true in your case, or are there many more goals that you both are looking forward to? Perhaps reaching Top 10 in DJ Mag’s Top 100…?
Felguk
We don’t have any specific goals anymore, there’s only this desire to grow bigger and bigger professionally, that we think its healthy and will never end. But I personally did have one big goal when I started: make a living out of music. I can happily say that I was fortunate enough to make it come true.
ReySon
Speaking of DJ Mag’s Top 100, did you manage to squeeze in your votes in time? Who were your top 5 favs for this year?
Felguk
I didn’t vote this year. But my votes would be: Skrillex, Nero, Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, and Felguk (!). Not in this particular order.
ReySon
Keeping with the top favs theme, what would you say were your top 5 favorite venues/festivals to have performed at this year so far?
Felguk
EDC Vegas, XXXperience, Green Valley, p12, Eazy. Except for the first one, the others were all in Brazil.
ReySon
Guys, out of all the artists that are currently pumping out music into the electronic dance scene, who would you say has had the most impact on your productions recently? Anybody else that you have your eyes on?
Felguk
Swedish House Mafia, Skrillex, Feed Me, Justice, Wolfgang Gartner…. the usual suspects.
ReySon
I always like to throw in a tiny dash of informality into my interviews, so for my final question, what movie(s) have you recently seen that you would fully recommend to your fans?
Felguk
Woody Allen’s ‘Match Point’. 10 out of 10.
ReySon
Buckets of thanks for your time guys! I’ll be seeing ya around! Any last words?
Felguk
Keep on Rockiinnnnnn!! And cya soon!
