Trippy Meets Raunchy: Punks Jump Up – Blockhead (VIDEO)

Describing this surreal video for Punks Jump Up’s Blockhead is about as difficult as describing Punks Jump Up themselves. Of course, Cal interviewed them 14 months ago and recently featured their Dance To Our Disco on January 25th’s Tuesday Top Ten – so feel free to catch up.

Okay, okay, so this video is a little bit pretentious in that Williamsburg or Echo Park kind of way – but fuck you, I like it. It’s got that little tinge of new that electronic music seems so desperately chasing after.

Their own brief biography is pretty much exactly what you’d expect:

The duo Punks Jump Up are Joe & David. A part English, part Swedish, London based duo whose rebel sound began in 2002. When we asked them to describe their band they use these words: Leather jackets, Nike trainers, Stussy rings, combs connected to chains, dance, dub, disco, Great Eastern St arrest.

If trippy, raunchy music videos set to soundscapes designed to confuse people living on the upper east side isn’t your thing, then their remix of Chromeo’s Hot Mess is worth a listen (or just check out any of the several articles on Salacious featuring them).
