Making Nitemoves in Different Area Codes
If there’s one unwaivering certainty in this world it’s that nothing is quite as tacky as Calgary, Alberta. Â I grew up here. so I feel a certain entitlement to criticize this wasteland of suburbs and tacky ass bars. Â When I flew in today I peered out my window and felt just a little sick looking at the vast sprawling developments of cookie cutter townhouses.
This is a great track from 2006 by an artist called Grovesnor. I’ve heard only a limited selection of his music, but he makes pretty enjoyable disco house/synth pop stuff. Â It looks like he does some shows occasionally too, so maybe you can catch him live.
i tend to agree with this post. i didnt grow up there; just spent the last 7 years.
that grovesnor track is the first one on a great dj mix by hot chip – dj kicks. every self-respecting dj should own it, and they should also youtube hot chip doing their song ‘no fit state’ live and dropping a little new order in the middle. know it. love it.
