Conor Cutz and DJ Black, College Crowd Pleasers

Conor Cutz has become the go to DJ for events in Waterloo Ontario and Jack Black (as a part of Black and Yellow) has been tearing up clubs in the same area. They recently remixed Wonderwall by Oasis. Music snobs might not show it love when listening, I can imagine the reaction it gets when these selectors drop it in their respective home towns… Girls yelling “Woooo”, guys throwing their beers in the air, and the crowd getting down to Electronic music. The production quality on this track is higher than the last few things I’ve received from Conor and the track is definitely a little club banger. Its not changing the music world, its not a turning point culturally, but I imagine there are a couple of DJs out there who would love to have this in their back pocket.

Good stuff Conor. Hope all is well in Loo and keep up the BPM
. . . Dj Black I’ll look out for more of your tracks!
Lukas – your right there is too much hate on this blog. The Toronto music scene is one of my favourites because of all the support artist’s offer each other. Anyone who is a hater, won’t last long in T.O.
ALSO @DJ JEDI It’s super funny you said “who does this skinny kid think he is taking his shirt off. Stop trying to be Steve Aoki” because Conor has partied/opened for Steve, i know that for a fact because my friends were all there. ALSO I’m in downtown toronto, but don’t knock waterloo. Where do you think the blackberry your using to rape this blog with your anger came from? take a hint, WATERLOO… Not only does RIM hire straight out of Waterloo, but now big DJ’s are picking up lil DJ’s straight out of Waterloo. So that burn also failed.
@wristpect your post is my favourite…dead hardey hehe.. i wear one of his perfumes though (and i smell damn good). Lets talk soon homie.
I used to get it in Ohio.
@ The Monarch – one of your best, most honest posts to date.
@ everyone else – The Monarch laid down the truth in this post, set out everything as it is, and kept it real. He even predicted that this track would receive large amounts of both hate and love, which it clearly has. There is no “hate” button on hypem, so maybe all the haters feel like they REALLY need to say something to be heard, given all the “love” this tune has received. This is the DJ Jedi syndrome, and explains why he went a little overboard with his hate. Hate is fair enough, but don’t go attacking Conor as a DJ unless you have heard him spin. He is talented. Cutz is also a good person, and that goes along way in any industry, including this one. There are lots of reasons Cutz is successful these days, but if you want another one, just take a look at this remix: he managed to get to #1 on hypem with a mediocre track, partly because remixing oasis is bloody brilliant (although admittedly sacrilegious) and also partly because hes got a strong base of fans and supporters who digg what hes doing and what hes about – the no shirt, aoki-esque-performance, oasis remixing, college crowd-pleasing, ed hardy wearing thing…so-what-the-fuck-ever to everyone. do your motha-fuckin thang conor…but be wary of remixing perfection. You cant ever truly win when u do.
I don’t get it, why hate or love something that’s no more or less than mediocre? The only thing I’m wondering about is why it’s #1 at Hype Machine…

Real shit on that article linked above.
Times change, different shit gets popular. Stop the hate. DJing is the new rapping, which was the new skateboarding. Everyone is gnna jump on board. Time is what will separate bad from good and good from great, not some disgruntled vet who makes ridiculous generalized statements that start with “all you kids think…” Cutz puts on a show and has a solid fan base that he’s earned by putting in work opening for countless shows. Let the man do his thing…
LOLOLOLOLOLOCAT…
The pot calling the kettle black
Its a good thing you only concentrated on the man’s DJing skills because your tracks are bad dude…very bad…. Get it girl is a mediocre fidget track circa 2006
Everything else is just un-listenable
lol, this is awesome…. Remember Conor, hating is the sincerest form of flattery…. HUSTLE HARD!!!
@The Monarch, just read your article on fb. amazing – followed all the links. had a good laugh.
Being the fourth to post on this track I was pretty surprised to read all these comments.I could do a bunch more @’s but I won’t – well, just one.
@Conor Cutz – though you haven’t posted on this I thought I might as well just leave a note in case you do. You have a great idea remixing wonderwall, not surprisingly this track got a tonne of hype. Things I think you could improve on would be, for one thing, adding in a melodic & quick bass line to this track, the typical few note bass line most electro tracks have just wouldn’t work because of the structure of the looped samples and repetitive effects. And as for your producing on the whole, one thing I’ve really noticed that I thought I would just comment on is your overall style. I’m not too sure if it’s what you’re aiming for, but what I’ve noticed is your style of producing sounds kind of like a progressive electro? Again, maybe this is what you’re going for, and apparently a lot of people dig it, but I kind of feel like you need to structure your tracks better.
Meaning, bringing in a couple melody lines right out of the gate is fine – and definitely more prominent these days than the classic straight four to the floor beat – openings of a couple years ago (and predominant in the more house-y scene), but you keep those individual melodies going to long. You know what I mean? It’s like your songs are all done by a barbershop quartet, and the chorus is being sung in cannon repetitively. – granted there are a couple of interesting and appealing breaks & drops here and there, maybe a quick change-up in the melody, but on the whole it just keeps building and building, without really generating much anticipation ––– does that make sense?
Haha, anyway, thought I might just give you some feedback, keep doing what you’re doing, experiment, and don’t let male dj’s who apparently have everlasting menstruation get you down.
just realized that i might have rambled a little. sorry folks who don’t give a shit.
