heard it while i was browsing…guy at least change it up a bit…fraud!
Hey Nerdy Ned!!
No offense but, isn’t that what sample packs are for?? Producers buy them because they are full of “copyright free” samples for use in music production. I don’t think it’s fair you called the producer a “fraud” for using a sample pack.
It’s not like he used an obvious sample like Will-i-am did with “Misirlou” or P-Diddy did with “I’m coming up.” I’ve always said that it’s not hard to take a song that was already a “hit” and make it a “hit” again, but your example doesn’t really fit into that category does it? Apart from the “Amen Break” found in almost every Jungle/Drum and Bass song, most sample packs are just original loops created by musicians explicitly for use by Producers and Dee Jays to enhance their productions. Nice one on finding the sample though. If it weren’t for sampling, my record collection wouldn’t be as extensive as it is.
Peace

fuck you nerdy ned, barletta will stomp on you
I was asked to remove that “nasty” comment, but I won’t. I think Splattermonkey cleared things up nicely, and perhaps even more appropriately than deletion
i think Barletta put those samples to excellent use…. i had a chance to remix the track [not part of the competition tho] and the track was very well put together with he added new elements and approaches to the final result…..there’s something special about it that i really like…if ned listened to the example track the Primeloops people put together you can hear just how it is NOT easy to arrange commercial samples into a cool track that moves people……the example track is totally wack…. guess nerdy ned is a hater
You mention artists such as P.Diddy, here is a good example, Daft Punk ” Robot Rock” they totally ripped it off.But there is a huge difference between “Panther” and
“Robot Rock” Daft punk found a sample that no one else has used and made it into a Dance track.
But when “Panther” was created from a sample pack, that same sample pack was sold to thousands of other people. Why does no one consider that to be a problem. I could buy this sample pack and some out with a similar sounding song, and I could legally put it out, does that seem wrong to anyone?that your not the only one who is using those sounds, think about how many panther’s there are out there, tons! but there is only 1 Robot Rock( keep in mind i am only using Daft Punk as its a perfect example of a total direct sample)
originality is what is being questioned here not the use of samples. Dance music is filled with samples, but ones that are not being sold across the internet to a million kids that wanna be producers. And no on reads the fine print of the licensing agreements in these things either, read it and you will see what im talking about. SAMPLE PACKS ARE NOT SOLD TO YOU THEY ARE LICENCED TO YOU!
i check back every day for the emma lee winners… but no luck
