So I haven’t been posting a lot recently. However, I have been listening to music a lot recently. At home the two albums that have had the most rotation on my iTunes have been Mayer Hawthorne and Maxwell. Maxwell was one of my favorite artists growing up. The Neo-Soul music that once dominated BET was probably the last time I remember that station being tolerable. As the list goes on in my head I realize how much I miss these voices, artists like Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, Alicia Keys, Raphael Saadiq, etc. were the voices that I could share with my father. It was where the music of his childhood was reproduced, redeveloped, and resold for mine. Unfortunately my hard drive has recently failed, otherwise I would throw out a couple of tracks that were mutual favorites (except for maybe ‘Shit, Damn, Motherfucker’ which offended his delicate sensibilities. But check out the videos I’ve included with some music that will make me move, think, and forget to blink whenever I hear them played.
