A rapper I’ve been following for a few years now named Busdriver just released a new album called Jhelli Beam. Â I liked some of his previous releases, especially his 2002 release ‘Memoirs of the Elephant Man’, and I was pleased to find that Jhelli Beam is a big step up. Â The flow is great on tracks like Split Seconds and Me-Time, and the album is really a showcase of his ability to rhyme incredibly fast. Â That said, there isn’t a lot of range and midway through the album I was ready for a break. Â His lyrics are funny and clever as always. Â Overall, the album struggles with mastering difficulties, especially on some of the really fast tracks. Â If you’re a ‘backpacker‘ like me I’m sure that this album is worth your listening.
Favorite line: “(Next Stooop) I picked up an R&B chick who, said I was a gorgeous Adonis, I said she was a moralless songstress, who looked like a tortoise in a prom dress, you know you shouldn’t record this to your song list”
