Music, Culture, Style. The Beat of Toronto.

Born in small-town Ontario, Munroe moved to Toronto to attend the University of Toronto, and he currently lives in T.O. You may have heard his “I want those Flashing Lights” track a while back – a remix of Kanye’s “Flashing Lights” and featured on Kanye’s Flow in the Dark Tour Mixtape. (He also co-wrote and produced 10 songs on Ray Robinson’s Juno-nominated album, What it Is).

This guy’s got skills and a style of his own. He claims to incorporate hip-hop and soul, while channeling Van Morrison and the Beatles. Some of his stuff is pretty poppy, but he’s worth a listen.

His production is disgusting – and people have noticed. Not too long ago, Munroe got a deal with Universal Motown Records and his much anticipated album is due soon.

What you’ve gotta check out is his Unsung Hero Mixtape, which features Drake, Wale, and Joell Ortiz and many others.

Some notables on the mixtape:

Piano Lessons feat. Ortiz – really demonstrates Munroe’s production ability

Will I Stay feat. Wale – is a great Summer track.

Who Killed Davey Moore – is genius! A subtle rework of Dylan’s original. Definitely check it out.

Cannon Ball feat. Drake – deserves a listen

Love his voice in the Kanye remix. The beat of Piano Lessons is really growing on me too. At first listening it didn’t seem like the song was going anywhere, but I can’t help moving to it now. The piano is sick, plus the music video is innovative as fuck!

    Hey,

Love the site of yours but just wanted to clarify one thing.
The production on “Piano Lessons” is actually from Black Milk is it not?
