After a 4 year hiatus from the music world, Eminem announced last fall that he would be releasing a new original album this year (his first new content since Encore in 2004). The album is titled Relapse and is scheduled to be released on May 19th. To be honest I’ve never been a huge Eminem fan, aside from the generic hits everyone likes (e.g. Lose Yourself, My Name Is, Superman… etc.) but with Dre getting producer credits the songs are always worth a listen. The first single from Relapse is called We Made You and frankly I’m not too impressed. The flow and lyrics are typical Eminem celebrity social commentary, the beat is tight and the hook is cute but gets old… I think this song is more of the same and doesn’t really bring anything new to the table but I’m interested to see what you guys think.

  1. Jordache says:

Eminems sound is tired and just more of the same, i don’t think it’s current at all anymore peoples tastes have moved on from his monotone rap. He will always have the classic few good ones but unless he changes his game completely i don’t think he’s gonna get anywhere, if this song was by anyone else it probably wouldn’t have made it to the airwaves

Have we all lost our sense of humour?
    This shit is funny.
Eminem is the master of rapper hilarity, and manages to do it everytime, without discrediting his own personal style and swag. Despite how deep Em runs through the rap game, (not just as a rapper, but as a producer, an insane battler, and a dude with a wild creative direction) he manages to still have support from the most influential cats around. Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, T.I., are some of the few that have done collabs with him, and will continue to do collabs with Em, because …well…he’s the best white rapper out there.
Despite that ‘We Made You’ has a similar feel to his more recent parody classics, the beat is bomb, the hook is memorable, and the video makes fun of everything I hate.
If you look at the history, and you identify Eminem’s talent as a unique and valuable asset to the hiphop world, you can’t deny this shit is fly.
Personally, although I’m not a truly die hard Em fan, I think he’s the bomb. He’s in the top 5 in my opinion, because he knows what it takes to make a classic.
Although it seems like Em might be redundant, maybe you just can’t understand what he’s saying cause he’s speaking so fast. Lol. This song has been out for a week, and has like 1,500,000 views on YouTube.
    Ya Eminem, I missed you.
