Nothing special about this thats for sure. Sounds like background noise at a retro art museum. And what the hell was with the eye make up that was just wierd.

This is an ignorant post. If you’ve heard of them only recently you should question whether you should be writing a blog. Now, I give you the benefit of the doubt because most of the music here seems to be electro but Animal Collective is an extremely important indie group and electronic group, comprised of several extremely respected solo artists, one of whom, Panda Bear, released an album 2 years ago which is widely regarded as one of the best albums of that given year.
Your entitled to your opinion, but when you find a group whose fans are so dedicated, whose critics love them, and who have produced 3 extremely solid and well known records, and don’t give them a good review, you should at least explain that you don’t actually know anything about the group, and your lack of comprehension is due to ignorance, rather than lack of talent on the artists part.

Now I acknowledge that I have drawn from a limited pool of reviews, but I should point out, that that is not in fact my job, and this should be done by the reviewer. And i’m sure a simple google search will get you all of the reviews from larger blogs, with paid musicians and critics writing for them, with great reviews of animal collective’s albums. ESPECIALLY the new one.

While you are entitled to your opinion, and I certainly give you credit for knowing everything about this band, you were correct in your assertion that I am not as familiar with the group as yourself. However, if you read the entirety of my post I suggest that I fail to understand why they are so hyped up. Yes having respected musicians as a part of your group will help to provide you with credibility, but that isn’t necessarily the reason that they remain at the top of the blogging charts. Contemplate this, Love Lockdown and other tracks allowed Kanye to ride the top spot on these aggregators for a really long time. The deeper question underlying this post was whether or not this was merely due to love, or whether it was due to everyone trying to keep up on what was already hot rather than looking for something with a little less shine and giving it some love.

Just because they are loved by other critics. I never said the artists were not talented, I said the music was not my cup o’ tea. Comprehension is not due to ignorance rather a difference in taste. Two of their songs have grown on me over time No More Runnin’ and My Girls, but its more from the song coming on when songs are shuffling that me looking to listen to them.
