A Feel Good Mix of Old School Hits!

Recently my father was complaining about the fact that house and electro aren’t real music because the musicians don’t play their own instruments. What he doesn’t realize is that today’s house music is yesterday’s disco.
Today’s mixdown is a throwback to a time where synthesizers didn’t dominate music, when disco was king, and house was on the horizon. The tracklist is impeccable. Every one of these songs makes me move in my seat and want to move my feet. The culprit behind the mix is Toronto DJ SplatterMonkey who has been spinning around Toronto for a while now. Along with DJ Matt Medley, he is launching The Boogie Down @ Augusta House this Tuesday. The first event to make me question the concept of the weekend, it certainly sounds salacious to me!
Heatwave / Boogie Nights
Michael Jackson / Off The Wall
Marvin Gaye / Got To Give It Up
Eddy Grant / Electric Avenue
Fatback / Backstrokin’
Kurtis Blow / The Breaks
Fantastic Freaks / Can I Get A Soul Clap?
The Treacherous Three / Get Up
The Sugarhill Gang / 8th Wonder
Peices Of A Dream / Mt. Airy Groove
Troublefunk / Pump Me Up
Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five / It’s Nasty
Kool & The Gang / Jungle Boogie

We start it early, 8pm and go late, so you can keep in check with your job and school work. Drinks are cheap and the food is tasty! The dancefloor is being bumped regularly by guest deejays plus residents SplatterMonkey and Medley, the night is hosted by one of the best dancers in this city, Lybido. Fun times all round! 152A Augusta. (Kensignton Market)
Thank you Salacioussound for all the love and support!
I think most successful producers today still play their own instruments they just do it “Stevie Wonder” style and play everything. So when they play live they D.J. instead of having a band. Most Electronic Producers can’t play brass or wind instruments so they use synths. I know most succesful electronic music producers can play the drums like a mutha fucka! I’ve seen it!
Thank again Salacioussound for all the love and support!
See you tomorrow night!
Love and Gratitude and Disco!
